In 2011 German authorities discovered an apartment full of 1,500 pieces of art by artists such as Picasso, Paul Klee, Oskar Kokoschka, Franz Marc, Max Beckmann, Emil Nolde and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. The discovery was only just made public, and the art is estimated to be worth at least $1 billion. This raises a few questions. First, if the art was taken during war, then to whom does it belong now? Second, why was this case made public two years after its discovery?
